"Spring Is Here"
We make these pine
planter boxes year round!

"Finished Serving Tray"
...My neighbor Sandy and I put some
ideas together and she supplied the
Benjamin Moore HC-61 Burgundy
Interior Latex Semi Gloss Paint.
We got some 3/8" good 2 sided plywood
supplied by Attica Lumber. After cutting the
material and sizing it,
A template was made to route the end pieces
of the tray. Tops and handles were rounded
off on another router table w/a 1/4 round
bottom bearing guide bit.
We used Elmers Interior/Exterior
wood glue and 1" brads for the box assembly.
Clamped the project and let it sit for about an
hour. Then we took good 2 sided cabinet grade
1/2" plywood
Supplied by
Bathricks Cabinet Shop of
Varysburg NY,
and sized it... glued the sides
and ends of the tray bottom and fit it snuggly
inside of the tray box. Shot some 1 1/4"
brads around to tighten it up and clamped it.
After the glue set up
We Used Elmers Carpenters White Wood Filler
and filled the brad holes..sanded the whole
tray with my Porter Cable #333 Palm Disc
Sander with a 150 grit disc paper.
Using a Contractors grade
White latex house paint and my Husky HVLP
gravity fed sprayer and Husky Compressor
Purchased at
The Home Depot..we sprayed 2
coats on the tray to seal the project..and
cleaned out the spray gun..after it dried a
320 grit sand paper was used to smooth the
tray.
A crackle application was then applied to the
project and let dry.
Then sprayed the Burgundy paint over the
project quickly..and watched the project come
to life and crackle giving it that aged look we
wanted to accomplish. After letting the top
coat dry we took my Porter Cable #333 palm
sander
with a 150 grit disc sand paper we ran over
the project to knock down the burgundy.
Today I'm going to give the whole tray a Dark
Walnut stain and sealer to complete the tray
finish...
